ℹ️About This Game
Tetris is one of the best-selling video games of all time, created by Soviet software engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. The name "Tetris" combines "tetra" (Greek for four) with tennis — each piece is made of exactly four squares. Tetris has been released on almost every gaming platform ever made and famously helped sell the original Game Boy in 1989. The game is so compelling that playing it creates a phenomenon called the "Tetris Effect" — players begin to involuntarily see falling shapes in everyday objects. Our version includes hold and ghost piece features for strategic play.
💡Tips & Strategy
- 1
Keep the pile flat and low — avoid tall stacks and uneven surfaces that trap holes underneath.
- 2
Use the Hold piece feature strategically: save an I-piece (the long bar) for a Tetris (4-line clear) opportunity.
- 3
The ghost piece shows exactly where your piece will land — use it to aim precisely without rushing.
- 4
Learn to T-spin: rotating a T-piece into a tight spot clears 2–3 lines and is key to high-level play.
❓FAQ
Q. What does the Hold feature do?
Press C or Shift to hold the current piece and save it for later. You can swap between the held piece and the active piece once per turn.
Q. What is a Tetris?
A Tetris is clearing 4 lines at once using the I-piece (the long straight tetromino). It's the highest-scoring move per piece in standard Tetris.
Q. Does the game get faster over time?
Yes, the speed increases as your level rises (every 10 lines cleared). Higher levels demand faster decision-making and reaction time.
